Ecclésiastique, né à Oxborough. Ancien élève du Gonville and Caïus College de l’Université de Cambridge (1751-1764). Ordonné diacre en 1745. Curé de Brockdish en 1748. Vicaire de Necton en 1749. D.D. (Doctor in Divinity) en 1765. Recteur de la paroisse de l'église Saint-Mary de Berkhampsted (Hertfordshire). Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries en 1769. Prébendier de Westminster en 1771. Eprouvant un vif intérêt pour antiquités, il fut bienfaiteur de son collège et légua une partie de sa collection de manuscrits à la bibliothèque. Il mourut le 5 septembre 1778 à Swaffham (Norfolk).
