Texte apocryphe de l'Ancien Testament, sans doute réd. en hébreu (IIe s. av. J.-C. ?, fragments en araméen et en hébreu retrouvés à Qumran), conservé en grec dans un état qui semble du IIe s. (15 ms, Xe-XVIIIe s.). Versions arménienne (IXe s.), slave (XIIe ou XIIIe), serbe, latine (trad. du grec en 1242 par Robert Grosseteste).
Chacun des fils de Jacob fait, sur son lit de mort, des recommandations à ses descendants. Mélange d'éléments juifs et chrétiens.
